How does time management keep you safe? Not only will proper time management help maximize the amount of work you can complete in a day, most importantly it will help you avoid rushing and stay safe on the road. It will allow you to complete your pre-trip and post-trip
every time.
Make sure you are planning your rest breaks into your daily schedule. Plan to avoid rush hour traffic. Make sure you are leaving time to wake up, do your pre-trip and get ready for the day without rushing.
Too many drivers are stuck wasting time, energy and running inefficient miles just looking for a truck stop because they left too late that morning and when they got to their destination all the spots were taken. If possible, plan to be at the truck stop before 5 p.m. to get a spot and you’ll be able to get up at 3 a.m. to start, which will put you ahead of traffic.
Plan to get to your DELIVERY EARLY or as soon as you can. Not every consignee will be happy to take you early, but some might and that will only give you more time to work with or get you finished sooner.
Anyone in the transportation industry knows that there are going to be issues and your day may not go as scheduled. If you leave extra time in your planning for each activity, you won’t be rushed and will have more time to overcome the issues we face daily.
